TOXIC AND HAZARDOUS WASTE CLEANUP
Alignement sur les objectifs mondiaux

Determining Scale
1 -Quick Wins: solution involves adding criteria for the good or service being purchased (ex: certifications), minimal internal process changes.
2 -Long Term Adoption: solution requires some changes to internal processes and/or more capital investment (ex: digital transformation to reduce paper use).
3 – Disruptive Opportunities: requires significant investment and changes to internal processes (ex: retrofitting building)

Étapes du Plan de Projet
Nos modèles par catégorie sont conçus pour décomposer chaque étape du processus d'approvisionnement en six phases, permettant aux utilisateurs de gérer et d'exécuter des projets durables de manière fluide.
Évaluation
• Conduct an internal assessment with your current suppliers:
a) to determine whether they perform waste management audits including the map out of costs, logistics management approach, and disposal processes,
b) to evaluate whether the supplier contracts and certifications, align with your needs,
c) to check the specifications (the type of waste liability, potential to repurpose waste, etc.)
• Discuss internally if your organization has the capacity to integrate a waste stream management program
• Assess the level of support your current waste contractor has with waste reduction projects regards items such as paper products, packaging, and the use of refurbished items.
• Understand your waste streams; universal wastes are different from hazardous wastes and toxic wastes.
Identification d'opportunités
Business:
Engage with suppliers that comply with regulations can help gain new clients, and alignment with such suppliers on your green targets can reduce risks and liabilities.
Sustainability:
proper disposal of hazardous waste will result in reduce carbon emissions - this can be tracked and reported with hazardous waste and substance reporting.
Élaboration & exécution de stratégie
• Complete the assessment and analyze it.
• Approach the suppliers and discuss their waste management solutions.
• Consider working with your suppliers to adopt waste management programs such as the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) or incorporate the mandates of the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) policies into your current policies and guidelines.
• Determine your waste management options and prepare a Request for Information (RFI), including your current suppliers.
• Evaluate the costs incurred and site cleanup performance when accidents occur and compare them to historical data.
Négociation et contrat avec les fournisseurs
• Coordinate with your vendors to ensure that waste streams are being minimized in the best interest of your organization; consolidate your waste streams to minimize overall waste.
• Agree on the quality, maintenance accountability and responsibility, quality management, turnaround time, and the opportunity to sell/receive monetary benefits for exceeding performance benchmarks with your supplier.
• Specify in your contracts that proper data and reporting requirement must be included not only on all invoices but where regulated waste is concerned, in the manifest and other billing/tracking documents.
• Ensure that during contract and negotiations that all necessary stakeholders that may be impacted by the potential changes in waste operations are accounted for.
Performance & gestion des fournisseurs
• Perform an internal review after the change is implemented to evaluate the commercial impact of waste management policies, and the environmental impact of waste disposal operations.
• When reflecting on the progress of hazardous waste disposal, require your vendor to track and report all waste data from their monthly reports and dashboards. Compare this data with your organization's disposal data to get better visibility at tracking all wastes leaving your facilities.
