(1) Evaluate internal indicators to estimate the labor involved in contracts management, and then compare to the volume of contracts and renewals internally.
(2) Risk: Less visibility into contracts management which increases the risk of governing terms and conditions leading to more risk/pressure on the purchasing company.
(3) Mitigation: Have clear communication pathways and procedures to follow with software resellers, ensuring that the business case always outweighs the risk.

Resellers can leverage their existing relationships with software suppliers to provide cost savings and higher efficiency for the supply chain through their repeated and direct communication channels.

(1) Assess and identify which software would be suitable for a reseller agreement.
(2) Create a bid for software resellers.
(3) Award contract and monitor or track value created.

Supplier Negotiation & Contract

(1) During a bid evaluation: The supplier questionnaire should include questions surrounding data security, the clear establishment of points of escalation, and value creation opportunities.
(2) In the contract ensure to include performance-based pay based on cost savings, risk mitigation clause, request 'submission to quote' turnaround time, customer service, and value creation initiatives (ex: reseller receives two different requests for software with similar function - flags it to contract analyst as a consolidation opportunity)

Supplier Performance & Management

Depending on volume of software contracts, ask for biweekly/monthly/quarterly review/report of performance-based KPIs.
