(3) Evaluate if your shipments fall under the category of a Less-then-truckload (LTL) shipment
(4) Set goals for cost reduction through sustainable initiatives
(5) Communicate with your shipping service providers and identify those with Transportation Consolidation Programs
(6) If current carriers cannot align with your goals, evaluate the market for carriers that utilizes transportation Consolidation Programs
(7) Prepare scope of work and go to bid
(8) Award and monitor contract and KPIs.

Supplier Negotiation & Contract

(1) In bid, state commercial priority on the capability to save cost with transport consolidation and include this in contracts.
Inquiry about the supplier’s emission report and give suppliers with well-established green cargo transport options first consideration.
(2) When negotiating with suppliers aim for the long term, a supplier that aligns with your organization's needs will be able to meet your goals and targets. This should be communicated regularly.

Supplier Performance & Management

Integrate CO2 emission reduction reporting into supplier performance management.
Annually monitor CSR reporting (internal and external) of suppliers and stakeholders.
Quarterly reporting on freight performance and correlate it to carbon reductions. Success in this area will be evident in improved shipping time, the overall reduction in shipping cost, and fewer reports of tracking issues with shipments.
