By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities.

Heading 4

(1) Assess the sustainability aspects of the current office supplies in use.
(2) Evaluate which area of these supplies has the highest scope for sustainability or sustainable improvement.
(3) Research and identify existing/potential suppliers in the area for sustainable options available within the scope identified in the earlier step.
(4) Scope your relationship with the potential office suppliers to determine leverage that can be built upon.

Promote brand image for being sustainable, cost savings (many materials made from recycled materials are less expensive than top of the line products), and reduced waste management costs (sustainable alternatives often last longer).

Conservation of forests/trees, and reduced energy and chemical consumption during production.

Strategy Build & Execution

Heading 4

(1) Establish the goals and targets (along with potential commercial benefits) which would fit your company in association with the adoption of a sustainable initiative.
(2) Determine to what degree of transition would be considered appropriate i.e. feasible for your company based on goals recognized (if high-grade supplies are absolutely necessary for the operation of the business, consider smaller-scale innovations than the 100% recycled materials).
(3)Align with suppliers on this initiative and determine the level of transition possible with their willingness to implement the initiative.
(4) Align employees towards the sustainability initiative and have them on board by explaining benefits and potential sacrifice in quality that comes with the adoption of the initiative.
(5) Procure the sustainable alternatives that you settle on with your suppliers.
(6) Monitor and keep track.

Supplier Negotiation & Contract

Heading 4

(1) Negotiate with existing/potential suppliers on the value adding elements such as shipping and handling, installation, and disposal of end-of-life supplies.
(2) Consider the implementation of a warranty program or inclusion of a warranty clause in the contract with suppliers in case the quality of the sustainable alternative is not up to standard or as discussed for risk mitigation.

Supplier Performance & Management

Heading 4

Integrate the reporting of CO2 emission reductions into the annual supplier performance management.
Feedback during the initial phase of the implementation from direct impact groups in the company about smooth integration.
Annual meetings to discuss new technologies in terms of sustainable alternatives available and the scope for the procurement of these products.
